17 Nov What’s moving and shaking around Brixham? – Community Matters

Helen with Brixham Theatre’s volunteer walking group
Hi, I am Helen; I’ve been the Community Builder in Brixham for 6 months now. I encourage people of all ages to get involved in their neighbourhood. I can connect you or people you know, with like-minded people, groups or organisations in Brixham. We can explore your strengths, skills and interests, plan how these can be shared, help you work out how to take positive action on things you’d like to change in your area, and help harness what is strong in your community and promote this.
Lives are transformed and positive changes happen when people of all ages work together. New friendships forming, activities happening and neighbours helping each other out with simple tasks on a regular basis are amazing to see. The power of personal connection is proven to reduce isolation and transform the quality of life for many people. I recommend joining the free Torbay Timebank to share your skills and help others in the community at devonconnect.org/torbay/torbay-timebank
There are many resources for finding out what’s going on in Brixham; the Brixham Signal what’s on guide, the YES Brixham Timetable, the Brixham Does Care newsletter and my Facebook page ‘Helen Ambler, Community Builder for Brixham’. Please do like and follow me to keep up to date with what’s happening weekly/monthly and when special events are coming up.
For music, Linda and Dave of Classic Gold, perform at The Edge once a month and there’s Music at the Edge group sessions on Thursday afternoons. Brixham Library have lots going on, lots of great shows at Brixham Theatre as well as a new walking group for the volunteers set up with the SWCP connector, Brixham Museum is fun and free with family backpacks to borrow and Brixham Does Care runs a variety of groups and activities. Watch out for new Laughter Yoga classes, ballroom dancing classes and of course the Torbay famous Santa Grotto at YES Brixham!
If you have a good idea, that will enhance your local neighbourhood or have some time to give to your community or know anyone needing any help to get out and about and make new friends, then please feel free to call me on 07469660873 or email me on [email protected].
