21 Apr WELLSWOOD GEARS UP FOR CORONATION WEEKEND – COMMUNITY MATTERS
By Marianne Parker, Community Builder for Wellswood
In Wellswood, the excitement is building for the Coronation weekend!
‘Coronation Chorus’ is at St Matthias on Friday 5 May at 7.30pm – a celebration of Great British hymns, singing and music. £5 tickets on the door for the Christian Aid Turkey-Syria earthquake appeal.
The Coronation of King Charles III will be live-streamed from the church building on a large screen on Saturday 6th May. Come along and watch with tea and cake!
At Stoodley Meadow Park, from 12 noon – 5pm on Sunday 7th May, our Coronation Party picnic and barbeque is going to be epic! …with something for everyone … live jazz from the sensational Sam Massey Trio, the Velvet Buccaneers Bar, Ilsham Academy Choir, fun and games and a treasure hunt from Play Torbay, limbo, musical statues and parachute games with Matt Bossa and his family disco… and an inflatable obstacle course and slide fun run! You can bring something to put on the table for a shared picnic… cakes or dessert…or salad to go with your burger or hot dog, from the Barbeque. Bring something to sit on if you can… we will have some chairs for those who need them. Come and join us to be part of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to celebrate the Royal Coronation!
If you would like to join in with the ‘Big Help Out’ for the Coronation, the following day on Bank Holiday Monday 8th May, you can join Nick Bye and his fantastic volunteers on our Litter Pick – meeting at Wellswood Village Green at 9am. Or… if you would like to join them at the car park at the Kilmorie end, they will make their way down through Ilsham to Meadfoot Beach for around 9.30.
See you there!
