11 Sep Well hello, Autumn…so what’s happening in the Torre & Upton areas?

Where do I start? Lots going on, Torquay Place Funding for one, members of the community have already attended a Community Partnership meeting to provide ideas on projects for our area; things like Upper Union St revival, an ‘Info bus’ to help get information to residents in all areas. Art projects and much more…if you would like to have your say on what is going on in our area, or find out more about the projects submitted, please join us at the next Community Partnership Meeting on 15^th October 6.30-8.30pm at Endeavour House, 228 Union St, TQ2 5QS. A great opportunity to have your say, hear from our local Councillors, Police and Council.

Torre C of E School are finishing a project where the pupils will run a community coffee shop on the school grounds. The PTA will volunteer, and staff will support by teaching children to learn customer service skills, food hygiene,  running a business, etc. The coffee shop will be open 3 days a week from 7.45 a.m until 9 a.m and 2.30p.m until 3.45 p.m, serving our school and local community.

The Annual Open Day – St Michaels Chapel is happening on Sat 13^th Sep 10am-2pm. The Chapel will be open and its history will be provided by Dr Kevin Dixon, Keith and other attendees. (Join us via the entrance on Barton Rd, opposite the school playing field).

The Learning Exchange at Shekinah has also produced their latest prospectus (all courses are free and inclusive – over 18s only). Email [email protected] for further information.

Live Longer Better Course – another free course that presents simple and practical steps to maintain and improve your health and wellbeing. It is all about empowerment and choosing goals to move forward positively and enjoy healthy activities. An opportunity to focus on you and make new friends. All classes run for 8 weeks from 10:15am – 1:30pm, with an optional social lunch from 1:30pm to 2:30pm – Wednesdays in Torquay commencing 15th October 2025, Upton Vale Baptist Church, St Marychurch Road, Torquay TQ1 3HY. We also have our regular groups, TQ2 Social Group meets weekly at the Central Conservative Club on Thursdays 5-7pm – come along and get involved.
