15 Aug The Plan for Torquay VCSE Hackathon

The Government have selected Torquay to receive £20 million over the next 10 years as part of their Plan for Neighbourhoods programme.

The money can be spent on physically improving our neighbourhoods, improving our town centre, on housing, arts, culture and heritage, on crime and safety, transport, on education and opportunity, work and skills, on health, wellbeing and sport and on being a stronger community.

The funds have a 75% capital/25% revenue split.

Come along to our VCSE Hackathon, which will be taking place from 3pm on Wednesday 20th August on Zoom through to 5pm Thursday 21st August – with a face-to-face session at the Torbay Community Café & Help Hub (behind McDonald’s on Union Street) between 3-5pm on the Thursday (if it helps, click here for a Google Maps link for directions)

The Hackathon will be live for 26 hours.

A hackathon is a collaborative event where individuals come together to rapidly develop solutions to problems. These events are time-limited, encouraging intense work and creative problem-solving.

Schedule:

Wednesday 20th

  • 3pm – Live & online: Introduction by Jim Parker, Chair of the Torquay Place Leadership Board
  • 3:15-4pm – Live & online: Interactive session on the focus of the funding and how to present an idea
  • 4-9pm – Live & online: Live questions & answers
  • 9am-9pm – Submit questions online

 

Thursday 21st

  • 9-11am – Live & online: Interactive session on the focus of the funding and how to present an idea
  • 11am-1pm – Submit questions online
  • 1-3pm – Live & online: Live questions & answers
  • 3-5pm – Face-to-face: Interactive session on the focus of the funding and how to present an idea
