Sun shinning on The Willows – Community Matters

The sun is shining on the Willows, with lots for you to get involved with. As Community Builders we are here to connect you with people, activities and events in your neighbourhood.

St Martin’s Church is holding its Summer Fete this Saturday 24th June from 2.00pm in the church grounds on Barton Hill Road. Hopefully sunny weather, but if it does rain, the Fete will go ahead in the Hall. Join in with a fun and fabulous community afternoon. Prize Draw, bouncy castle and games including Hoopla, Lucky Dip, Hook-a-Duck, Chocolate Tombola, Splat the Rat…and more! Refreshments are available. Come and say hello to your Community Builders – Theo and I will be there hosting craft activities.

St Martin’s Hall is also the venue which hosts fantastic new Community Cooking classes on Thursday’s 4 – 6pm. Organiser Hannah is encouraging people to come and cook together as a family at this 4-week course. “It’s free and fun! We learn together, making and eating delicious, budget-friendly food from scratch. You can be sure of a warm welcome. Just contact me to book in advance, and please check your diary – you must be able to attend every Thursday for 4 weeks”: [email protected]

Dates for your diary: On Friday 7th July at 8.00pm the Willow Tree pub will hosting ‘An Evening with Michael Buble’ by highly regarded tribute act Luke Hingley. A fun night out!

Landlord Kelsey & the fantastic team at the Willow Tree pub will be also hosting Family Fun Days free of charge in their lower car park area on Tuesday 1, 8, 15 & 22 August in the summer holidays 10am – 2.00pm.  Detail to follow – keep an eye on the Watcombe, Willows & Higher Barton Community Partnership Facebook page for updates. It will be a fun mixture of crafts, games and events. Of course, all children must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult.

Do you have a good idea, an ambition or skills to share that will enhance our local neighbourhood? Planning an event in the Willows? Please do get in touch.
