16 Sep SEED OF AN IDEA RESULTS IN SOMETHING WONDERFUL – COMMUNITY MATTERS
By Christine Durrant, Community Builder for Preston
The life of a community builder is never the same two days running.
We are constantly impressed by the number of good-hearted people who are willing to do things with and for their community.
A seed of an idea is shared.
Discussion follows and then lo and behold something wonderful is started!
The other week someone rang me and said she would like to restart the games morning that they used to have at Kinda Café pre-Covid.
She had already approached The Boathouse at Preston and asked if they would host the group and so had her venue organised.
All she needed from me was some help reaching out into the community to tell them about the group.
She didn’t need games – people bring along what they would like to play.
The Boathouse isn’t charging them, just asks that they buy a drink or two and the group has begun to meet.It isn’t rocket science!I know that this newly formed group will grow and flourish and in doing so, it will provide a safe haven, a warm welcome and some much-needed fun.
So, if you like games and are free on a Wednesday morning, why not join them?
There is no need to book in advance – just turn up at The Boathouse at 10am.
Of course, if you’d like an introduction to Sue who is leading it, I am happy to oblige.
If you have an idea that you would like to make happen, just contact me on 07469 660 887 or email [email protected] and let’s work together.
