Roll on May for Babbacombe, St. Marychurch & Maidencombe

Where did April go?

Time flies so quickly especially in the life of a Community Builder.

So many great things are happening that I am involved in within the community. I’m busily trying to get my seedlings and garden ready for Summer.  After so much rain and wind, everyone will benefit from better weather.

Talking about seeds. My seedlings – Alumia vanilla cream Marigold are busily coming up to help towards the Babbacombe Bay Bloomers planting for the 60th Anniversary of Britain in Bloom after a call out was made for the Community to get involved. How are yours doing?

The Sunflower Competition in St.Marychurch to raise funds for the Babbacombe Bay Bloomers is going really well. So many have been sold. Who will be the winner? Check out their Facebook page.

One of many Friendly Benches located around Torbay. Take a seat, if you’d like to have a chat!

Have you seen the new mural in St.Marychurch? Looks fantastic. Well done the St.Marychurch Traders for making this happen. As well as SWISCo for the new much-needed benches in the Precinct. They look great. Check out the friendly benches.

Not forgetting, and how could we the amazing Scarecrow trail in August. The theme this year is children’s characters – dig out those nursery rhymes and TV characters old and new.

The St.Marychurch Yarn Fairies are busily making for their stall at the Babbacombe Traders Association Mid Summers street party – Reddenhill Road on the 22nd June starting at 1.30pm to 6pm. They are raising much-needed funds to continue with their amazing displays. If you have any surplus wool to donate, please come and see us there or drop it off at the Precinct Centre marking it for the St.Marychurch Yarn Fairies. You never know they may even strike again in Babbacombe leading up to the street party. I didn’t tell you that…Shush!

St.Marychurch & District Community Partnership are going to be at the street party too, sharing a gazebo with me and the Yarn Fairies.

Pop along to find out what is going on in your area and find out how to get involved and have your say. It is run by volunteers for the good of the Community. It is all about the community of St.Marychurch, Babbacombe, Maidencombe and Plainmoor. If you miss us at the street party come and join us at the next public meeting June 18th starting at 7pm at The Royal, Babbacombe Downs. Check out their Facebook page too.

Of course, there will be loads of other stalls there including food, drink, entertainment stage and lots for children to do. It’s going to be an amazing day.

Did I mention Babbacombe Fayre Sunday August 11th?

So many amazing things going on in the Community. I haven’t even touched on until the end of the year. Watch this space. There are things afoot!

We at Torbay Communities are busily putting our heads together to plan events throughout Torbay to celebrate with you our 10th anniversary from July 2024. Nine of which I have to say have had the pleasure of being a Community Builder.

If anybody would love to be a part of the planning, ideas or anything you would like to bring to the table, please let me know. It is all about you, the Community of all ages.

As always please get in touch with me on any of the above, information about groups or people that might need help.

If you are thinking about a group that is needed, you have ideas small or big, or want to volunteer/good neighbour we really value your support.  Even giving a short amount of time makes a massive difference. I do know time is precious. But every little helps.  By volunteering with us you will be part of helping our communities across the Bay.

We are stronger together 😊
