14 May Marvellous May!

Marvellous May! At last, we can see and feel that summer is on its way. The Devon hedgerows are full to bursting with the most beautiful wildflowers and, of course, all the trees have come into leaf, and the whole of the county is the most glorious, lush green.   

It’s also the time of year that the events calendar really starts to fill up.  If some things are beyond your financial reach, then there are lots of things to do for no more than the price of a cup of coffee, if not completely free. The best way to find out about what’s on in your area of Torbay is to contact your local Community Builder: www.torbaycommunities.com/builders/ or check the free monthly Beach Hut magazine, delivered through your door or to be found in libraries, shops, cafes, etc. 

Saturday 23rd May at Paignton Library: Hooray for Heritage: 11am – 2pm in the children’s library area. FREE family event. 

Local artist Zoe Curly will be there for a reimagining of a street full of some of Paignton’s most interesting and beautiful historic buildings. 

And I’ll be there hosting a “Make a Stained Glass Window” workshop, taking inspiration from some of the real stained glasswork that can be found around Paignton. This won’t involve real glass for obvious safety reasons. 

There will also be an opportunity for you to have your say on what areas and buildings in the Paignton Conservation Area are important to you. Or follow the link below to take you to the very short online questionnaire to be completed before the 28th May deadline.

Greek Conversation: every 2nd Thursday of the month at the Boathouse in Preston 10 – 11am. If you’re a Greek speaker and feel a bit rusty or you just want to learn some basic language for your holiday, then come along, grab a coffee from the counter and join Community Builder Ruth Tshoukas and I for an hour of English and Greek conversation.
