HELP IS ON HAND FOR KINGS ASH AND COLLATON ST. MARY – COMMUNITY MATTERS

By Nina Cooper, Community Builder for Kings Ash & Collaton St. Mary

I discovered a new community project at St.Boniface Church, Belfield Road, Paignton. I want everyone to know about it. It is in my patch but available to the whole of Torbay.

‘Work it Through’, is a not-for-profit, registered community interest company. They know times are difficult for many people, the feeling of being out of control can sometimes feel overwhelming. They want to enable you to take back control and bring about change in your life.

Wellbeing is important to us all; one of the greatest ways to improve your mental health is to socialise with other human beings. This is why there is a café and charity shop, where you can meet old friends, make new friends or just sit in the warmth for a while and relax and it is open five days a week.

Alongside the relaxed community environment, they are going to run free accredited courses from 20th February 2023. The courses on offer are: Employability, Wellbeing, Customer Service, Hospitality, Retail, Cleaning and Horticulture.

A referral can access the courses from Seetec or the job centre or you can apply directly through the website link below.

They know stepping outside your comfort zone can be scary, but it can be exciting. They can help find a course that will get you on the employment ladder if you are currently unemployed. If you are in work, they help you gain more qualifications to move forward in your career. For those over the age of 19, you can access a whole range of free online courses in Health and Social Care, Retail, Hospitality and Warehouse, Business Leadership and Management, Children and Education. Visit their website to see what’s on offer. www.voncap.co.uk

Pop along on Tuesday 28th February when Juliet and Nigel will be there to meet and tell you all the exciting things coming your way. Alternatively, you can contact them on 01803 422082 or e-mail [email protected]
