20 May CELEBRATING THE JUBILEE! – COMMUNITY MATTERS

I have been watching seven Great Tit chicks hatch and grow over the past three weeks on my webcam in my bird box! They have all successfully fledged now and flown the nest. Summer is on its way and the long Jubilee weekend is almost here!
Here in Wellswood, Jubilee celebrations include a HOG ROAST and entertainment at St Matthias Church on Thursday 2nd June at the Piazza outside from 1-3 pm. Adults £4. Children £2. Also, between Thursday 2nd June and Saturday 4th June, there will be a photographs and memorabilia exhibition from 10 am – 4 pm. All welcome.
On Saturday, 4th June 2022, at 2 pm there is a neighbourhood Garden Party on Thatcher Green and people are bringing food and drink to share and a blanket or a chair. There will be a collection for the Torbay Hospital League of Friends to thank the hospital and its staff for their tireless efforts during the pandemic.
Jubilee in June! Is happening at 6pm on Thursday, June 30th at Kent’s Cavern Café. Booking is essential. There will be a buffet for a £15 ticket. Dennis and Ryan will welcome us with an acoustic guitar. Sam Massey’s sensational Jazz Trio will play from 7pm. There will be magic and dancing with Anne George from 8.30pm, Buy your own drinks from the bar and come and have some fun! Please contact me to buy a ticket from me in advance. You could buy a ticket when I’m at either of our coffee mornings at the Kent’s Pub on Tuesday mornings or at Kent’s Cavern Café on Friday mornings, both from 11am. See you there!
Whether we are having tea parties in our gardens for neighbours, picnics, going to the Air Show or helping with a street party, this is a fantastic chance for us all to celebrate being together again and to nurture old friendships and make new ones.
