What is the Community Fund?

Crowdfunding opportunity for charities and social enterprises, augmented by donations from Aviva employees across the UK.

Applications are currently being invited from registered charities and social enterprises with an annual turnover of less than £1million, to build stronger, more resilient communities.

The Fund seeks to support forward-thinking causes that are helping to push communities forward.

This may be an excellent way for smaller charities and social enterprises that are unfamiliar with Crowdfunding to gain a better understanding of the process, as Aviva hand-holds applicants through the various stages of setting up a Crowdfunding appeal, which can be supported by donations from Aviva’s UK employees.

Every three months £250,000 will be shared equally among Aviva’s UK employees to donate to the projects that matter to them most. Each charity or social enterprise can apply for funding of up to a maximum of £50,000 and Aviva employees will decide how the funding is distributed.

The Aviva Community Fund website has a short video which explains how the programme works and what support is available through Aviva.

A) Projects must:

Align with one of the purposes and fall within the three funding areas:

  1. Building back better: helping society to bounce back from the pandemic by addressing the health and wellbeing, and economic impacts in communities and individuals.
  2. Climate Champions: helping communities to prevent; prepare for and protect against the impacts of climate change, and/or
  3. Financial empowerment: supporting financial inclusion and giving people the tools to become more financially resilient and independent.

B) Be raising funds to:

  • Adapt services to meet today’s needs without compromising those of future generations; or
  • Develop a new approach, product or technology, or
  • Expand existing services to a new area or beneficiary group, or
  • Implement a new initiative or pilot a new scheme.

Organisations must have been operating for at least 12 months at the time of submission and be a living wage employee (if the organization employs people.)

Applications can be made at any time.
