What is the Community Fund?

The funding is intended to support groups working in the following areas:

  • Human rights (Inc. social justice, peace, and equality)
  • Animal protection
  • Environment.

It prioritises groups campaigning to create long-term change which will benefit large sections of society and tries to help those whose radical stance and approach might make it difficult for them to source funding from elsewhere.

Grants range from £100 to £10,000. The average grant is between £2,000 and £4,000.

Small non-profit organisations, including registered charities, new organisations and start-ups can apply.

Priority will be given to the following:

  • Less popular causes that aim to create long-term change, and which struggle to find funding
  • Campaigning over core funding
  • Projects costs over salaries and core costs
  • Projects that find it hard to attract funding elsewhere.

Charity Pot grants are generally directed towards campaigning project costs; however, core costs are occasionally considered where a detailed budget and explanation is provided.

Applications can be submitted at any time but should be submitted at least three months before the start of the project.
