10 Jun IT’S GREAT TO SEE PEOPLE OF ALL AGES INVOLVED IN COMMUNITY EVENTS – COMMUNITY MATTERS
By Joey Damiral, Community Builder for Chelston, Cockington and Livermead
Torbay has experienced its fair share of excitement over the past couple of months, with people coming together and having an absolute blast!
It has been great to see people of all ages getting involved in community events and most importantly, enjoying themselves.
The Pirate Festival, the Imagine This Festival and Platinum Jubilee celebrations have all been very positive occasions for the people of Torbay.
I mean living the life of a pirate for a weekend, getting involved in a borderline Comic-Con and having four days to celebrate our Queen and country in the upmost style… well, what’s not to like?
Honestly, it is great to see these kinds of gatherings happening once again in Torbay. I loved featuring at the Imagine This Festival on May 28 and 29.
I was leading the launch of Torbay Lego Masters, which is a new community group, coming to the area from this July on a weekly basis.
The turnout to the festival across the weekend was incredible, with approximately 5,000 people coming to build Lego, meet superheroes, play games, receive Jedi training and immerse themselves in a vast range of other cool activities.
Showcasing the amazing groups that are happening in and around Torbay, it was a real treat for everyone.
Torbay Lego Masters can now be reached on Facebook, or you can message me on 07754 609 494 for more information.
We are looking for some extra Lego leaders, if you’re interested in joining the team! I am always interested to hear about people’s ideas on new groups for the area. Please do make contact if you want help pursuing a new community-centered project.
Art ROCkers is up and running every Tuesday 12.30pm to 2.30pm at the Riviera Life ROC Centre, Chelston, for all kinds of artists to get involved in. The community social is up and running every Thursday, 11am to 1pm at the Haywain, Chelston, for those who enjoy games, music and a good old chit- chat.
Many groups are circulating, so please contact for more information – email [email protected] or call 07754 609 494. I hope that you all had a nice time over the Jubilee weekend!
