What is the Community Fund?

Small grants generally up to £300 to assist individuals and families experiencing financial hardship.

Statutory agencies or charities providing health or social care, housing associations, probation services and GPs on behalf of an individual family, can apply.

The programme aims to support families during times of hardship to enable them to become stronger, happier and healthier, to build their skills and resilience, and improve their life chances. Grants can be used for essential personal and household needs to assist families and individuals on low incomes, particularly those living on benefits.

Only one application per applying organisation can be made during each 12-month period.

The following grants are available:

  • Disability or sickness: for disability aids in the home or items required to allow discharge from hospital to home that cannot be provided by NHS or social care (Please note grants for disability and sickness are currently closed due to lack of funds)
  • Older people: to promote independence and improve the quality of life and isolation for those aged 60 and over.

Funding is not available for anyone who is not a service use of a registered Referral Organisation. See the long list of other exclusions on website.

Applications can be made at any time.
